Charles-Étienne Ferland (he/him), MSc ✉️
Writer and entomologist

Charles-Étienne Ferland is the author of the best-selling novel Dévorés and the Trillium Award-nominated novel Métamorphoses. Recipient of two Canada Council for the Arts grants, he has also written the short story collection Une dent contre l’ordinaire, the YA novel Max d’Exxila and the album of piano compositions Microcosmes. His works have been the subject of nearly a hundred articles and media coverage of all kinds at the local, national and international levels.

With a master’s degree in insect ecology from the University of Guelph, Charles-Étienne works at the Montreal Insectarium for Mission Monarch, a participatory science program that aims to map the breeding sites of this endangered butterfly. Also a collaborator at Club Sexu and Bugdex, his favourite projects are those that have a positive impact on biodiversity, the environment, culture and education.

Since 2024, Charles-Étienne Ferland donates 3% of his royalties to environmental organizations working to conserve biodiversity and combat climate change, namely Ducks Unlimited Canada, the David Suzuki Foundation and the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
